The Auto Shanghai show has become one of the biggest in the industry, fighting with the major European motoring exhibitions for the exclusives.
This year’s line-up was no different, with several world debuts from some of the top manufacturers, and the new cars on show are likely to have many drivers looking to sell their prestige car and upgrade to the latest, sexiest models.
New BMWs
BMW revealed two new cars in Shanghai – the Concept M5 and 6 Series Coupe.
The M5 is BMW’s vision of a future M5 saloon, although it appears ready to hit the roads. Expected to be available early next year with a £60,000 price tag, before options, it has a 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine which can hit zero to 62mph in just over four seconds.
BMW also revealed the production 6 Series Coupe, having unveiled the Concept 6 Series in Paris last year. On sale this summer, the two versions are the 640i with a 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine and the 650i with a 4.4-litre V8.
New Audi
Audi launched the Q3 in Shanghai, a traditional car that is similar to the BMW X1 and Nissan Qashqai.
Available to order in June, motorists who like the look of it should start looking into selling their prestige car now. Priced from £25,000 and expected to be delivered in November, the Audi Q3 is available as front-wheel or four-wheel drive.
The Mercedes-Benz Concept A-Class is a low, sporty hatch which is likely to compete with the BMW 1 Series.
Although only a concept car at this stage and not expected to hit the showrooms for a good while yet, the new A-Class could already have motorists considering the best way to sell their prestige car and drive off in a new Mercedes-Benz.
