New Aston Martin V12 Zagato takes on the Nürburgring

The new Aston Martin V12 Zagato will make its racing debut at the infamous Nürburgring circuit in Germany tomorrow (Saturday, May 28th).

Competing in the 53rd ADAC ACAS H&R-Cup VLN race at the historic track, the new Aston Martin will face the challenges of the 14.1-mile Nordschleife section.

The four-hour race starts at midday local time and the V12 Zagato will be joined by a variety of cars from different classes, including fellow supercars, Cup racers and amateur-driven road-legal cars.

Following this, two V12 Zagatos will compete in the 24-hour endurance race.

Unveiled last weekend at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa D’Este in Italy, the V12 Vantage sports a beautifully handcrafted aluminium body, built using traditional techniques.

It has already become highly acclaimed, winning the Design Award for the Concept Cars and Prototypes class after a public vote.

This early success has highlighted the hugely successful collaboration between Aston Martin and Zagato, who last worked together 50 years ago.

Back then, they created the iconic DB4 GT Zagato, which spent much of its life as a racing car after launching in lat 1960.

The registered models 1 VEV and 2 VEV were driven by Jim Clark and Roy Salvadori and the high performance and low weight made them incredibly competitive.

It was the anniversary year that inspired Aston Martin and Zagato to join forces once again to create a stunning modern interpretation of the DB4 GT Zagatos with endurance racing credentials.

“The 24-hour race is the ultimate road test and a fitting introduction for the V12 Zagato,“ said Dr Ulrich Bez of Aston Martin.

“Nurburgring is where we sign-off every new model in terms of dynamics, and there can be no better place for the new V12 Zagato to be finally tested.”

If the new Aston Martin turns out to be as impressive as it sounds, many owners of current models may soon be wanting to know: “What’s the best way to sell my Aston Martin?” The answer lies with AutoVIP’s fast and free cash offers. With no-obligation quotes from top dealers, anyone who wants to sell Aston Martin cars will get the best possible price.
