New Audi Q3 shapes the compact SUV market

The new Audi Q3 is all set to re-shape the UK compact SUV market, with eight model options for Audi buyers to choose from.

With four engines to choose from, each coming with two gearbox options, Audi fans will be spoilt for choice when ordering begins in June.

The engines – 2.0 TFSI 170PS, 2.0 TFSI 211PS, 2.0 TDI 140PS and 2.0 TDI 177PS – are all directly injected and turbocharged and feature stop-start technology and an energy recuperation system.

Gearbox options are a six-speed manual or S tronic twin-clutch transmission. This disengages the clutch during coasting to reduce draw on the engine.

The Q3 range is the first Audi SUV to offer the efficient 54.3 mpg front-wheel-drive option, and extra features boost fuel economy still further. In efficiency mode, the electronic climate control and cruise control system are also optimised for minimal petrol consumption.

And the new Audi is just as impressive from the inside. The spacious interior can comfortably seat five adults, and the split/folding rear seats also mean up to 1,365 litres of storage space.

A concert audio system, Bluetooth interface and Audi Music Interface iPod connection make up the new Audi’s entertainment system, with navigation preparation also built-in to make driving the Q3 a breeze.

The SE option has 17-inch alloy wheels, contrasting exterior trim, chrome window trims, aluminium roof rails and rear parking sensors.

An optional upgrade to the S line brings 18-inch alloy wheels, further exterior and interior styling enhancements and xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps and LED rear tail lights.

Further options include ‘steerable beam’ adaptive light technology for the xenon plus headlights, a high-beam assistant to intelligently illuminate the road ahead, the hard drive-based navigation system plus with seven-inch colour screen and 3D mapping and the side assist blind spot warning and lane assist lane departure warning driver aids.

On-the-road prices start from £24,560 for the front-wheel drive 2.0 TDI 140PS six-speed manual Audi Q3. Shipping will start in November, so Audi buyers should register their interest now.
